Since January 2022, Dr. Ingrid Hengster has served as Country CEO for Barclays Germany and Global Chairman of Investment Banking. In this role, she leads Barclays’ full franchise in Germany, spanning Investment Banking, Markets, Corporate Banking, and Consumer Banking. She is responsible for business strategy, regulatory engagement, and strengthening the firm’s relationships with major corporate and government clients. As Global Chairman of Investment Banking, she drives CEO- and Board-level client engagement and international growth initiatives.

Dr. Hengster has more than 30 years of investment banking experience, including Executive Board leadership at KfW Bankengruppe, where she built the institution’s venture capital business and oversaw Germany’s promotional programs. She previously held senior roles at Commerzbank, UBS, Credit Suisse, ABN AMRO, and later RBS Germany. A graduate of leading Austrian institutions, she is passionate about financial education, entrepreneurship, renewable energy, and cultural initiatives.
